Progressives Need to Politicize Money (via Gerry Canavan)

Exactly. jp

From a series of legal codes favoring creditors, a two-tier justice system that ignore abuses in foreclosures and property law, a system of surveillance dedicated to maximum observation on spending, behavior and ultimate collection of those with debt and beyond, there’s been a wide refocusing of the mechanisms of our society towards the crucial obsession of oligarchs: wealth and income defense. Control over money itself is the last component of o … Read More

National Guard Sergeant Sues Citigroup Over Foreclosure (via Blog for ShortSalePartnering.com)

Another “patriotic” American corporation in action.

They wanted to foreclose his house while he was on active duty, so they cut a few corners like telling the judge in the lawsuit that he wasn’t on active duty.

Is there no shame with these people? How many times did they get away with this?

James Pilant

Lee’s comments: Many of you may know that I am a veteran of the US Army myself, having served twice, both post and prior to the tragedy of 9/11/01. If you’re not aware, there is a law which is supposed to protect against this happening. This is simply a HUGE oversight on the foreclosing bank’s part which further illustrates the foreclosing bank’s lack-luster approach to handling the foreclosure process. THEY SHOULD ABSOLUTELY KNOW BETTER! I can a … Read More

16 Reasons To Feel Really Depressed About The Direction That The Economy Is Headed (via Organic News Net)

I agree with virtually everything here. I believe the economy is in serious trouble and it is not getting better soon. I firmly believe that the deficit reduction talks will result in an agreement that will damage the nation severely in the short term, savagely in the long term and serve as the final nail in the coffin of the middle class.

The prosperity and well being of individual Americans making less than a quarter of a million dollars a year no longer registers in any form whatever in the concerns of the governing class.

16 Reasons To Feel Really Depressed About The Direction That The Economy Is Headed The American Dream July 7, 2011 If you do not want to feel really depressed, you might not want to read this article.  The U.S. economy is coming apart at the seams, and there are a whole lot of indications that things are about to get even worse. After a time of relative stability, the pace of job cuts is starting to pick up again, inflation is rising but paychecks are not, the U.S. housing crisis shows no signs of ending, millions of American f … Read More

What is Really Happening in the Foreclosure / REO Real Estate Process / Market? One Agent’s Point of View (via East Bay Real Estate: Caldecott Properties )

I like this.

He asks, “When will we do the right thing for all Americans?”

I would like the answer to that question myself.

James Pilant

This is a great article and it sums up the mortgage crisis brilliantly. JP

What is Really Happening in the Foreclosure / REO Real Estate Process / Market? One Agent's Point of View Is it possible there is a corrupted process at the very top (wall street executives, wall street investors, bank executives, hedge funds, etc.) Here is a thought: We know banks are not willing to reduce the principle loan amount for owners under water. That can easily be measured by the number of completed loan modification that include a principal reduction. Very (very) few: About 49,000 of all the proprietary modifications completed reduced bot … Read More

Bank of America Forecloses on Santa Clara Woman After Telling Her to Miss Her Payments | | St. George News | STGnews.comSt. George News | STGnews.com (via )

How many times do we have to read this same story? Telling someone that they have to stop paying to access a federal program, encouraging them to believe that they are going to get a loan modification, when your bank has already decided that no one is going to get this kind of deal, and then foreclosing on them when they fall for the bait – is this they way banks are supposed to make money?

SANTA CLARA – Bank of America foreclosed on a Santa Clara woman’s home, despite her doing everything she was instructed to do in order to prevent it. Annette Lake resided in her house in Santa Clara from 1986 until May 24, 2011, when Bank of America foreclosed on her home. Just after her divorce from her husband was finalized in 2008, Lake was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was laid off from her job during chemotherapy treatments. She began ha … Read More

Let’s get in there and put pressure on Obama to get this nomination done. The banks and the special interests have allied to block it. They are trying to kill the agency before any work can be done. Their crimes and unethical behavior will not be brought into the light without the agency.

Please go sign the petition. Elizabeth Warren will make a difference.

I’m no expert on the details but I know that recess appointments have been extensively used, particularly by the Bush administration to get around the requirement of getting congressional approval. Who will make them pay? (via Livinglies’s Weblog)

Let’s saddle up! The Wall Street Banks absorb every kind of benefit from being in this nation including taxpayer dollars. Yet, when it comes to taking any responsibility as citizens, they are notably absent. Is there a kind of vicious hypocrisy in absorbing benefits but paying none of the costs?

Let’s make these people know that we know they have failed to act in accord with basic patriotism.

James Pilant

My thanks to Livinglies’s Weblog.

Who will make them pay? You will. Yesterday, in six cities across Illinois, people stood together and demanded Wall Street banks like JPMorgan Chase pay their fair share to end the revenue crisis, create jobs, and stop illegal foreclosures. In New York City, thousands marched on Wall Street demanding that Millionaires and Big Banks pay their fair share. In North Carolina, community leaders made sure the shareholders of Bank of America faced up to … Read More

Beware of Foreclosure Rescue Scams (via RE/MAX Premier Group’s Blog)

I’ve been seeing these scams on the web and occasionally hearing them on the radio. These scammers are like vultures circling over people already in financial difficulties to extract their last dollar.

Business ethics? There really isn’t much to say. The people who run these scams are merely low life scum without any intention of providing any legitimate service. If there is no legitimate service in the first place, we are talking fraud.

If you are in foreclosure or near foreclosure – Follow the advice in this article.

James Pilant

Beware of Foreclosure Rescue Scams The threat of losing your home can lead some homeowners to take desperate measures to find companies who claim to reduce your monthly mortgage payment or take other steps to save your home. Unfortunately, there are many scam artists stealing millions of dollars from distressed homeowners by promising immediate relief from foreclosure. Keep this in mind: If the advice or information sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t be taken advant … Read More

Another Successful Foreclosure Fraud Happy Hour (via Foreclosure Fraud – Fighting Foreclosure Fraud by Sharing the Knowledge)

These are some great people. They took up a public fight on a major issue before the media or the government recognized the problem. In fact, the government and the press denied there was a problem. These people are heroes, using the power of the internet as visionaries have hoped.

I wish them well!!

Couple Claims They Were Duped By Bank Into Foreclosure (via CBS Chicago)

The same sad story over and over again. The bank says no problem, sets up a trial period and then forecloses. It’s a trap.

The post says the family “claims” they were duped.

“Claims,” yeah right, we’ve seen this technique over and over again. The bank literally takes the property legally by manipulating the families into a “trial” period, which they will then (to no one’s surprise) find the deal inadequate and then foreclose.

For cruelty and cold blooded maliciousness, it would be hard to find worse.

CHICAGO (CBS) –- A local couple said they did what the bank told them to do—and now they are facing foreclosure on their home. As CBS 2’s Kristyn Hartman reports, it has happened to hundreds of thousands of homeowners.  The house they were happy to build, is now a source of hurt for LaRae Alvarado and her husband. They are fighting their home mortgage default—and they say it isn’t their fault. … Read More
