“The investigation has so far shown that Arjun had recently been demonstrating some concerning behavior, including using the internet and ChatGPT to make searches for theoretical ideas or fantasy stories regarding the killing of his family,” the Middlesex county district attorney, Marian Ryan, said in a press conference.

Ryan said the teenager had planned the deaths of family members in the form of fantasy fiction.

“He was engaged in the use of ChatGPT in creating fantasy stories, kind of the gothic novel kind of stories, asking questions, creating characters, asking what about this if this happened to that, and they seem to appear to relate to threats to his family,” she added.

Now call me naïve, but if I created an AI that people use to get advice, you might, just maybe, want it to discourage crimes? Don’t you think?

The story seems to convey the idea that killing a family was found by the AI to be a good topic for further development and research.

Was there any point that the internet service said “Guy, killing your family is illegal and wrong – and you shouldn’t be researching and thinking about this? I don’t think so.

It is vital that we incorporate moral purpose and a reverence for legality and honor in these AI systems if we intend to survive as a nation and a civilization.

I’m sure to many people, particularly those educated in our business schools, the idea of morality as an integral part of any business endeavor is hilarious. Most business people gave up on any standard of morality under the tutelage of Milton Friedman’s Shareholder doctrine.

But the alternative to morality and ethics are AI systems destroying everything and I mean everything. These things will exercise incredible power and if misused can and will kill tens of thousands and disintegrate our remaining rights.

These AI things are artificial psychopathic monsters in the service of a handful of oligarchs.
